Looking for wedding suits for the groom in Leeds or your groomsmen in York or across Yorkshire? You wear your wedding suit once as a groom, and it's looked at for the rest of your life. Amalfi Bespoke designs and makes bespoke groom suits and wedding suits in Leeds for grooms in Harrogate, York, and across the UK, blending the soft, fluid construction of Italian tailoring with the structure of British cutting.

Our bespoke wedding suits start with a conversation, not a catalogue. Founded in 2021 by Yorkshire tailor Charles Edwards, Amalfi Bespoke makes tailored wedding suits one groom at a time. Charles comes to you, at home, at your venue or wherever suits, to talk through your day, show you cloth from houses including Scabal, Loro Piana and Holland & Sherry, and measure you for a suit cut for your frame. Whether you want a classic black tuxedo, a cream double-breasted suit, a linen suit for a wedding abroad or something nobody else will be wearing, every garment is made to measure and hand-finished.

Wedding Suit Styles for Yorkshire Weddings

Classic Tuxedo Grooms Suits

  • Black tie. A black tuxedo with satin-faced peak lapels, a low-cut waistcoat and a silk bow tie is still the benchmark for a formal or evening wedding. Add a white rose buttonhole and a monogrammed cuff and it is finished.

  • The three piece wedding suit. Jacket, waistcoat and trousers in the same cloth give you shape and polish, and you can take the jacket off at the reception without losing the look.

  • The double breasted wedding suit. Peak lapels and horn buttons bring a confident, Italian silhouette. In cream or ivory it is quietly dramatic

  • Timeless style. Monochrome, unstated yet the ultimate in elegance. A classic dress suit that will never go our of fashion.

Black Velvet Jacket & Tailoed Trousers Groom Suit, Made by Amalfi Bespoke Tailors in Yorkshire

Contemporary Wedding Suits

  • Velvet dinner jackets. Midnight, black or bottle green velvet with satin lapels, often lined in silk. A green velvet dinner jacket over black trousers has been a popular choice for autumn and evening weddings.

  • Soft, unstructured jackets. Relaxed shoulders and patch pockets in textured weaves, worn with tailored trousers and suede loafers. Perfect for garden, barn and destination weddings.

  • Texture over shine. Jacquard and woven finishes in black or charcoal catch the light without looking showy, especially for evening receptions and multi-day celebrations.

  • Colour from the inside. A bold lining, a coloured silk knot or a single statement buttonhole lets you stay classic while still looking like yourself.

Linen Wedding Suits & Jackets

  • Made for Italy and the Mediterranean. A linen wedding suit is the natural choice for a villa, vineyard or coastal wedding abroad. We have made oatmeal and blue linen suits for Mediterranean beach weddings.

  • Italian cut, relaxed shoulder. A soft, lightly structured linen jacket with a natural shoulder and patch pockets gives the easy, unforced Italian look, tailored to your frame rather than hanging loose.

  • Linen or linen blend. Choose pure linen, which breathes best and shows life as the day goes on, or a linen blend for more structure for the ceremony and photographs.

  • Warm venues at home too. Conservatories, orangeries, marquees and sunny Yorkshire garden weddings all call for a lighter jacket. A linen jacket will keep you cool all day.

Wedding Suits in All Colours

  • Black or Navy. A black or navy blue wedding suit flatters almost everyone and works from a morning ceremony to the last dance, in any season.

  • Grey. From soft dove to charcoal. A mid-grey wool suit with a matching waistcoat and a textured pink or burgundy tie is classically British.

  • Beige and stone. A beige wedding suit suits summer gardens and Mediterranean venues, and sits beautifully with brown suede loafers.

  • Browns and checks. A country classic wedding suit photographs brilliantly and makes the groom the focal point of every picture.

  • Deep greens and terracotta. Bottle green velvet for the evening, or a terracotta suit jacket for groomsmen beside a cream groom.

Grooms Suits and Wedding Tailoring by Charles Edwards

Meet Your Wedding Suit Tailor

Charles Edwards trained at one of Leeds’ most influential tailoring houses before founding Amalfi Bespoke in 2021. He project-manages every pattern, runs every fitting and finishes every suit with you himself, so the person who listens to your plans is the person who designs, crafts and works with you in person for your custom bridal suit.

Arrange your grooms’ tailoring appointment in Leeds, or at a location that suits you across Yorkshire or the UK.

The Importance of a Custom Tailored Wedding Suit

A wedding is a long day: the ceremony, hours of photographs, the wedding breakfast, speeches, the dance floor. An off-the-peg or hired suit is cut for an average body, so the sleeves run a touch long, the shoulders collapse when you raise a glass and the jacket pulls when you hug your mum. A custom tailored wedding suit is cut from your measurements and shaped in fittings, so it sits properly whether you are standing at the altar, sitting for the speeches or lifting your arms for the first dance.

How far ahead should I order my wedding suit?

At least two to three months before the wedding. A suit takes five to six weeks to make, depending on fittings, and you should start earlier for peak summer weekends, a wedding abroad or a heavier cloth.

Do you offer home wedding suit fittings near me?

Yes. I hold private one-to-one appointments at your home, office or venue across Leeds, Harrogate, York and the rest of Yorkshire. I also travel to Manchester, London, and across the UK. I take appointments seven days a week to work around you.

Can you make suits for my groomsmen and fathers?

Absolutely. We make each suit individually, whether you want everyone matching or the groom set apart. Ask about measuring the whole party in one visit, or we can do it separately.

How much does a bespoke wedding suit cost?

It depends on the cloth, how the suit is built (machine or fully hand-sewn) and how many pieces you want. We go through the options at your consultation. Orders are a 50% deposit, with the balance when you take delivery.

Is a made to measure suit better than hiring?

A made to measure suit is cut for your body, in cloth you choose, and it is yours to keep and wear again. A hired suit is cut to an average and goes back on the rail.

Can I personalise my wedding suit?

Yes. We have made suits for destination weddings, including linen suits for beach ceremonies. Allow extra time and tell us the date and climate at your first appointment. Absolutely: wedding date embroidery under the collar, monogrammed cuffs, silk linings, buttons and waistcoats. See our personalisations section above.

The wedding tailor that travels to you. I regularly dress grooms across Leeds and Harrogate, Wetherby, Skipton, and Sheffield, as well as York and North Yorkshire (see my page for tailors in York and North Yorkshire), and in London, Manchester, and for weddings abroad. I have styled grooms who have married at black-tie venues in Harrogate such as Rudding Park, at country estates around York and on a beach overseas.
